In this post I explain how to modify an aging network attached storage device with a Linux distribution that will keep its software and functionality up-to-date for the foreseeable future.
Also, some links were broken that should be fixed. Furthermore, the old guide had some rough edges that I smoothed over in this new version. This is an updated version of the original 2016 guide, which really needed an update after more than four years. This guide will remain online, but consider its contents deprecated and obsolete. The Kirkwood platform which the ix2-200 is based on is not supported anymore. With great sadness I was told that Arch Linux ARM dropped support for ARMv5 and ARMv6.
